Do I have to buy LoD edition to access my save?

I played the Legion of Dawn edition when it first came out via EA play but eventually cancelled my subscription. I don't want to start that up again but I would like to hop back in the game with some friends at some point.

My question is: can I just buy the standard edition for super cheap and pick up where I left off, or do I have to buy the same LoD edition that I played before?

If they're considered different "games" then my concern is that it would start me with a fresh save file which I don't want.
